Re-design Teal Countess gown

Description

I was really inspired by ~ladyrose04 's reconstruction of her "rain dress" and so I decided that I would take another shot at the dress I got engaged in. This is also my back up in case I can't afford to make the "red countess dress" for this season.

You can see the dress as it is right now here: [link] I'm going to scrap the bodice and remake it. Add pearls to the underskirt and bodice inset. I'll make a new fan, add a new plume to my hat, and use my current sleaves to make the ones in the design. The purse is already made, though I drew it wrong in the picture. I will have to make a new blouse, seeing that the one I would use for the red dress has color that matches only the red dress.

Over all, It would be much cheaper to make this dress...though i really want my red one, so we'll see.

Hi, I thought I would chime in :)
I pretty much agree with everything Heather has said, but I have a few tips for the sleeves.
If you have left over material from the forepart, rather than using it as trim you can make sleeves out of that, the sleeves and forepart often matched.
As for decoration, if it stays still long enough, go mad! lol
Seriously though, sleeves are small, and a chance to show off, they can be used to dress up or dress down a dress. Look at some of the sleeves in portraites, solid embriodery some of them. I was going to do a lattice on my sleeves with my gold trim, but I decided not to as it was hard with the slashes crossing the trim. I'm glad I decided against it, as 25 metres would not have been enouth (I've run out on the forepart as it is, and can't find anymore anywhere). It is really easy (I think) to underestimate the amount you need, so measure before you buy. Also, think that you might want to match the pattern up at the seam with the lattice, I didn't think of this and my stripes are out! BUT, don't stress if they are, I was thriled to find an immage of Queen Elizabeth with sleeves with applied stripes, on one sleeve they match and on the other they don't!

But its looking really good!
